Well, we found out today that Tyler is allergic to just about everything - everything environmental that is. When this whole process started our family doctor sent Tyler to a ENT in Denver to see what was causing him to get so many ear and sinus infections. That Doctor told Tyler to get a CT scan so he could see his sinuses and to also get allergy tested. Then he would do the surgery...if necessary. One look at the CT scan and he decided to do the surgery. We had scheduled the allergy testing in early December, but due to weather, the allergy doctor couldn't make it to town that day - and only comes here once a month. So...post surgery...we finally got the testing done today. After 34 pokes on his back and 28 more on his arms, we found out that Tyler is allergic to grass, weeds, trees, cats, dogs, and feathers. He didn't have a reactions to molds and barely reacted to dust mites. So......pending approval from our insurance...Tyler is going to have to start a pretty intense injection therapy. The Allergy doctor will mix up a batch of everything he is allergic to and will ship it down here to our local doctor who will administer it to Tyler two times a week for the next couple of months. After that it will be once a week and will eventually become once a month...probably just on a maintenance level. Tyler, who is completely needle-phobic, is not thrilled. But I really do believe it will help, and hopefully he will build an immunity and he will feel better. My only regret is that we didn't do this 10-15 years earlier. Oh well...lessons learned.
